Mercy Ships - Martine Roos

On April 10th, 2019, I hope to present to you about my experience volunteering at Mercy Ships in Bethel URC church located at 49823 Talbot Line, Aylmer starting at 8pm. For those who don't know, Mercy Ships uses hospital ships to provide free surgery, training and dental care in developing nations. As 3 months have been unexpectedly added to my trip, I will also be raising funds to complete the remaining time there. I have been asked by the ship to be a part of the Advance Team, which is a team that goes out into the next country to prepare for the ships' arrival. We will be going to Senegal! This position will include administration tasks such as: opening bank accounts, phones/sim cards, setting up internet services, organizing supply chandlers for the local food deliveries and much more. In June I will switch over to be the Human Resources assistant, hiring individuals from Senegal itself, where we will hire all the day workers for the upcoming field service! I would love to present to all who are interested in the organization and want to learn more about it, as well as give a thorough update to all of my sponsors and show appreciation to you, because without your support, this trip would not of been made possible! Note: all funds received will go directly to Mercy Ships.

Caring for Life: Working Together To Help Those In Crisis

Come to Bethel United Reformed Church of Aylmer on Friday, April 12 @ 7:30 pm, as we learn more about caring for those who are among the most vulnerable in our society!

Jeremy Hoogheim from the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform will speak on the tragedy of abortion and defending unborn babies in crisis. Executive Director of Fresh Start Maternity Supports, Karen Schouten, will discuss the ways this ministry assists families, such as crisis pregnancy support, housing, and transitioning back into the community. Scott and Patsy De Jong will tell us of their fostering and adoption journey to encourage us in caring for children in crisis when foster care and/or adoption become necessary. These speakers will be followed by an opportunity for questions and answers.

We encourage those who value life, desiring to show Christ’s love to all, to attend.
